What is the Selection Criteria?

The selection criteria of this medical school are carried out through the admission committee, where the applicants will be selected based on their personal intelligence qualities and integrity along with dedication towards their social duties.

Committee will merely be selecting those candidates who are standing following the educational goals of medical school in the primary care specialization field and different other disciplines related to medicine. The school even enrols those students who are having diverse interests and are having a wide range of backgrounds over expanding medical opportunities for the students.

The admission committee is although not having any sort of preference for the undergraduate major study but also prefers the students with evidence of in-depth achievement and broad training. This knowledge needs to be highlighted in different areas of study, such as social sciences, humanities, or natural sciences.

For all the candidates who have applied for the admission, their evaluation will be done based on the undergraduate academic record, MCAT performance, extra-curricular activities achievement, letters of recommendation from professors or premedical committee, personal interviews with the admission committee members, and different other standards.

All the qualified applicants have to make an appearance in front of the admission committee for the session of personal interviews. This interview evaluation will be done based on the skills and abilities which are much needed to satisfy the technical and non-academic standards set by the faculty.

UCSD School of Medicine major requirements:

This medical school will be considering the application of the applicants that are permanent residents of the US, international applicants, US citizens, or DACA recipients.

Coursework Major Recommendation for UCSD School of Medicine:

It is always recommended that students should enter medical school after 4 years of undergraduate study. This is the minimum requirement over the attendance for 3 years of the academic years at the accredited college of arts and science.

It is also needed to acquire a maximum of 1 year over an accredited 4-year institution inside the United States. All those students who have at any point in time attended the foreign school; they should have completed a maximum of one year of their study at a four-year college in the United States, i.e., undergraduate or graduate level just as before applying.

There is no such requirement that will be followed upon in the coursework that needs to be completed. Below are a few of the major courses whose evaluation will make the application processing easy enough. This will initially help you to prepare yourself for the MCAT as well.

• 1 academic year includes 2 semesters/3 quarters of the college-level Biology
• 1 academic year which includes 2 semesters/3 quarters of college-level General Chemistry
• 1 term which includes 1 semester/1 quarter of college-level Biochemistry
• 1 academic year which includes 2 semesters/3 quarters of college-level Organic Chemistry.
• 1 academic year which includes 2 semesters/3 quarters of college-level Physics.
• Laboratory coursework related to all courses that completely offers some corresponding labs.

Applicants who have missed out on any of such above courses will still be put into consideration. The majority of the students do earn the AP credit, and they are even allowed to pass the introductory courses in various subjects, including Chemistry and Biology, at the undergraduate level.  Applicants should also take with some sessions of on-line coursework from an accredited school, which will not be a disadvantage at all.

Entrance Examination:

Now once the candidate has made itself to apply to the degree programs, the time has arrived when you should make an appearance in the MCAT test.

You should be appearing in the MCAT test at least 3 years before you have already planned your matriculation date. For instance, the applicants who are entering into the class of 2020, they should have taken their MCAT test for the years 2017-2019. Any MCAT test which has been given away in the year 2020 will not be put into consideration.
