Why is Rudium nitride Rb3N formula instead of RbN3?

This is because the charge of rhodium is +1, while the charge of N is 3. To get a neutral charge, you have to multiply nitride by the oxidation state of nitrogen where the charge is 3. So if you add +3 and 3, you get 0. and that explains it.
